Took MRT with parents to kallang station. The train was filled with a little red here and there. When we reached kallang station and went down the escalator, the surroudning area was dotted with red... Damm lot of ppl.So followed the crowd and crossed the road to queue for the chartered bus, the bus ride was rougly 10 mins long to the stadium. Reached the stadium and met up with my aunt and her family. Outside the stadium, it was crowded with damm lot of ppl... Queued up for the blue zone and took our fun pack and soon we were inside the stadium. it was not really filled by then. But after around hald and hour, the stadium was fully painted red. There was this family of 3 sitting infront of us, with a father a daughter around 9 yrs old in the middle and the mother. They were really seflish as they occupied lots of space to put their stuff. When the army officer told them to move in, they said there were ppl coming in.In the end, the family just wanted to occupy more space as there were no more ppl coming. My family, on the other hand, had an empty space too, but it was for my brother who was really coming.
When my bro came, the daughter of the family in fromt of us looked or i can say stared at him and myself. The starting of the parade was quite fun, with the kallang wave and stuff like that to heat up the crowd. There was this time when some of the volunteers were throwing freebies into the crowd. Stuff like handband, balls and handphone strap were thrown. I wanted the red ball, while my bro wanted the band. The gal in front of us told her dad she wanted the band too... When the ppl threw the stuff, 1 of the band landed near her seat. Seeing this, my instincts told me to grab it, and i was faster than the gal. She stared at me, looking damm pissed. My bro then told me to give in to her. But when i was bout to give it to her, her dad had caught 1 band and gave it to her. After getting the band, the gal stared at me again. Dunno wads the prob with her lor.
The parachutes this year was cool. First, 3 came downand landed on the 'BULL'S EYE'. Everone was like going "wooooahhhhhhh" when they were touching down. Then several more parachuters came down and they had released the red smoke while the last men had a singspore flag attached to him. the flag was slowing him down a lot due to air resistance. The latter touched down super fast compapred to the 1st 3.
The contingents were damm cool. All nvr cock up. But 1 wierd thing bout the contingents this year was that the 1st few contingents consisting of the scouts etc ran out to the stadium insted of the usual marching. The GOH or guard of honour on the other hand marched out.
Soon 3 F-16s flew out and when i took the video, the vibration caused by the planes was causing everyone including me to shake or tremble. The f-16s fly faster than the speed of sound, so u see them then u hear the sound. haha=) Another air show was the apache helicopters. 5 F-16s flew past first while their after-burners were on, so they were super fast and super loud, so u can see the planes had this bluish red kind of flame at the back of it. After-burners are like nitros for planes. Then 3 apache flew in. So cool, but the apache looked like it has a big head and a small tail and body.
The preformance at night was quite xian actually. My bro and i almost slept. Got 1 time, there were 4 damm big balloons floating, then 3 of them were lighted up except 1. Techincal error i think... The fireworks were okay only lor. At the finale, the ppl opened the thingy with glitter paper and the long long shiny shiny paper inside. I grapped 1 of them when it flew past me. My mum hrapped the same one too. The gal in front also grappde the same paper. I let go immeditaely. then my mum tugged it withour realising then the gal was pulling too. The gal had that"i am gg to get it" look on her face. Then my mum let go, and the gal had it... blah blah. The whole celebration ended and everyone had a mad rush out. It took us 36 mins to get out of the stadium and walk to the main road and take a cab.
Verdict for this year's NDP2006: It was fairly entertaining compared to the previous years. The fireworks were short and not very nice compared to those i saw at the esplanade.
We ate supper at newton and went back to out hotel room to retire for the day. My mum and i watched "Bad Boys 2" will 1 am while my dad was sleeping. Then we slept too.
