Went climbing with like 6 ppl todae. Miss Chow BY, Mr Steven Quay and Miss Kwok Lilian together with 3 of her colleagues. Woke up at 7 plus with a runny nose, but felt quite okay cos i was gg to climb later. Reached safra at 9.30 am(the time that we were supposed to meet). Went 7-eleven to buy some titbits and found out my voice was crappy and my eyes were half open or half close. Either one lah. Then i went to sit at the carpark after strolling around the whole safra. Looked into every car and mr quay smsed me saying they will be late for 15 mins. Xian. The got this small black car came in. It had those kind of starhub window sheild at the side. Wanted to look in but felt that Mr Quay could not have drove that car. Feeling slightly impatient, i called mr quay and he told me he just drove into the carpark. To my uptmost surprise, the black car was his... God...
We then walked together up to the rock walls. There was this army reservist lunch or smth like that happening at Yishun Safra todae. So lots of cars that came in had many middle-aged men wearing their no.4 uniform. i told the teachers that i did not notice them coming in cos i could not see inside the car. then Miss Chow and Miss Kwok said that as long as u see ultraman stuff at the dashboard, its Mr Quay's car. Diao -_-''
We then signed the idenmity(however u spell it) form and generous Mr Quay was the gentleman and paid for all of us... I set up the wall while the teachers changed into their climbing gear. We then started climbing. Miss Chow was very sleepy and lethargic at first but Miss Kwok encouraged her to climb. I was extremely elated and excited to climb cos the last time i touched a wall was like 1 month ago and my muscles are like softening. Haha=) Miss Kwok climbed first followed by me. Climbed pretty first and toerd out even faster. My first climb always like that one. Whole body not used to it yet. It was an 18-meter wall that i climbed. Just a warm up climb. Then Miss Chow climbed and then followed by Mr Quay. Miss Kwok's colleagues came a short while later.
I continued and started the 25-metre wall climb. It was a wall to train ur endurance. very fun wall in fact. Everyone then took turns to belay and climb. I did not belay cos of my previous experience of belaying my primary sch teacher, Mr Rizal who intoduced this sport to me. He was more than 2 times my weight and i have belayed him with no problem b4.
That day about 6 months ago, we were here at the 18-metre wall. I was belaying him. I always hated the part when he was coming down cos the presure on my hand was tremendous. On the very day, it was very hot and my palms were sweating. i slipeed him down at 1 moment and my hand almost went into the belay device. If it did, i wondered what will happen. Almost reaching the ground, about 5 metres above ground level, the worse came. my slippery palms gave way and the rope slipped through my hands. I wanted to grip the rope but the next time i knew, i heard a loud Bang and he was on the floor on his back and the chalk from his chalk bag was flying around. i was stunned and stood rooted to the ground for a few moments. His back injury was nothing compared to the minor rope burn on my palms. i remove the anchor behind me and ran to him, asking whether he was okay. The next thing i knew, ppl were running to him. Safra Adventure leaders, other climbers and some passer-bys. i moved back. They helped him turn around and lie on his chest, with him groaning in pain. 1 of the Safra personel told ppl to back off and give the injured man some air. He then asked around for the belayer which was me. I was still in the state of shock. The scene when Mr Rizal dropped remained vividly and repeated in my mind like a disc player.
More Safra personels came 2 of them questioned me. They asked things like how he was related to me and where he dropped from. I stuttered when answering. It was so happened some army fair was gg on and there was an army medic around there. He rushed to Mr Rizal but he could not do anyhting as he did not have the necessary equipment. The Safra personels then called for an ambulance and within minutes, paramedics came and they put Mr Rizalon this metal board so his back wont bend or smth like that. 1 paramedic said that falling on the back his quite tricky cos maybe the spine haven break but if u move him around, that small focal point which haven break yet may break anytime. The paramedcs also use a pen to see which part of his body felt numb to check whether his spinal cord was broken. Thank god, nth serious happened. I remembered Mr Rizal once told me that he had a former back injury so i was very afarid smth would happen this time. The paramedics brought him to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and told me to go home. while a Safra personel would follow and bring his stuff to the hospital. Everything then went back to normal.
Since then, i was scared of belaying anyone much older or heavier then me. i will conquer this phycological barrier and i MUST!!! Even though it happened 6 months ago, the scene remains vivid in my mind. Back to todae, we rested a bit and i clmed the chimney after mr quay. This was his 2nd time. He told me that he did not make it to the top at his first time but this time he did. Miss kwok also said she tore her pants a little after smearing her way up bit by bit using her bum the last time. I have seen the chimney lots of time but have not tried it. So i decided to try it for the 1st time. At my 1st attempt, my way of getting up was unsuccesflu but on the 2nd attempt on the another way was succesful. I climbed my way up using the cracks and a few hand holds. Then at the last part, i smeared my way up. I have reahced the top. It was tiring and very pain for my tops from all the smearing. But it was very fun and exciting and had a great sense of achievement after reaching the top on my 1st try. This is a pic of the chimney.

my last climb was the 25m again on another route. I then took a bath and mr auy fetched me to bishan and i went hime after buying lunch.

really busy with council projects this few days. Got Teachers' Day coming so must paint the whole backdrop. Came to school on sat at 9 till roughly 3 to make and paint the backdrop. 8*6 mahjong papers leh. Damm big. Ahhh!!! Ytd oso stayed backe to do the finishing touch-ups.
Mr Tan PH oso wants the SFU design proposal handed to him asap. How to do??!! i ran out of ideas for the blue booth liao lor.
CHCC-- shld be the busiest project i am handling. I need to survey ppl on:
Wad would u like to see being sold at CHCC a.k.a cat high cash converters?
and i must oso do the store deco and the signboard... ahh!!! nvm, can handle one lah.

Anw next Friday, 31st August till 2 Sept got this SLB camp. An on 1st Sept NCC land got this complusory flag day thingy to do, yellow ribbon project.

This morning after i woke up and had our brekfast at ya kun, we went shopping and i walk myself while my parents shop themselves. I found out smth, Singapore service towards foreigners and towards Singaporeans are very different. I went to Royal Sporting House, and wheni got in, the sales woman there keep looking at wherever i go. Just whn i was bout to go out, this 2 caucasians came in and she immediatley sprang into action, she approached them and asked what she can help.
Another example was at the Adidas section in Robinsons, the sales lady saw me but did not do anything. Not even smile. Then this caucasian family walked in and look at some adidas shirts. The sales lady went to them and said," If you all need any help, just approach me." Woah, tottaly 2 different approach. Isit because i was a kid? i asked myself that and decided to stay longer to find out the answer.
This 2 Singaporean men walked in and looked at the adidas clothes. Tney were aged around 20+ to 30+. The sales lady did not approach them. Another singaporean family of 2 parents and 2 children looked at the merchandise but the sales lady did not do anything until they called her. What kind of service is this? Does it mean we are singaporeans, they do not need to treat us good?
Another matter i found out at my stay in the hotel. Some or most singaporeans are rude, selfish and do not even noe how to say "Thankyou"
1 example of selfishness was the family sitting in front of me during NDP.
1 example of rudeness is that when i opened the hotel glass for this singaporen family, none of them even gave me a nod, not to say that they said"thankyou". On the other hand, when i opened the door for this caucasian couple, then man said a loud"thankyou". Helping ppl and hearing "thankypu" after that really makes your day.
Ytd night my parents went to Equinox at swissotel to take a look but i did not go cos dress code applies and i was dressed in singlet and shorts so i dint not go. thus i went back to the hotel room. when i reached the door and wanted to take my wallet, i found out that i had left it inside the room, with my key card inside. I wanted to call my parents but found out that my card was in the room but found out that my phone was inside the room too... How careless can i be?
I waited outisde the room thinking of what to do. Should i wait here for my parents or should i ask the receptionist for help? i then rushed down to the hotel receptionist and told them that i had left my card in the room. Thinking that the receptionist which was a female would be angry, i waited for the worse to come. Instead, she smiled and asked me for more details like the room number and wad name the room was under. she then passed me a new card and even asked me whether i just came back from the stadium?
This is what i call service.

Took MRT with parents to kallang station. The train was filled with a little red here and there. When we reached kallang station and went down the escalator, the surroudning area was dotted with red... Damm lot of ppl.So followed the crowd and crossed the road to queue for the chartered bus, the bus ride was rougly 10 mins long to the stadium. Reached the stadium and met up with my aunt and her family. Outside the stadium, it was crowded with damm lot of ppl... Queued up for the blue zone and took our fun pack and soon we were inside the stadium. it was not really filled by then. But after around hald and hour, the stadium was fully painted red. There was this family of 3 sitting infront of us, with a father a daughter around 9 yrs old in the middle and the mother. They were really seflish as they occupied lots of space to put their stuff. When the army officer told them to move in, they said there were ppl coming in.In the end, the family just wanted to occupy more space as there were no more ppl coming. My family, on the other hand, had an empty space too, but it was for my brother who was really coming.
When my bro came, the daughter of the family in fromt of us looked or i can say stared at him and myself. The starting of the parade was quite fun, with the kallang wave and stuff like that to heat up the crowd. There was this time when some of the volunteers were throwing freebies into the crowd. Stuff like handband, balls and handphone strap were thrown. I wanted the red ball, while my bro wanted the band. The gal in front of us told her dad she wanted the band too... When the ppl threw the stuff, 1 of the band landed near her seat. Seeing this, my instincts told me to grab it, and i was faster than the gal. She stared at me, looking damm pissed. My bro then told me to give in to her. But when i was bout to give it to her, her dad had caught 1 band and gave it to her. After getting the band, the gal stared at me again. Dunno wads the prob with her lor.
The parachutes this year was cool. First, 3 came downand landed on the 'BULL'S EYE'. Everone was like going "wooooahhhhhhh" when they were touching down. Then several more parachuters came down and they had released the red smoke while the last men had a singspore flag attached to him. the flag was slowing him down a lot due to air resistance. The latter touched down super fast compapred to the 1st 3.
The contingents were damm cool. All nvr cock up. But 1 wierd thing bout the contingents this year was that the 1st few contingents consisting of the scouts etc ran out to the stadium insted of the usual marching. The GOH or guard of honour on the other hand marched out.
Soon 3 F-16s flew out and when i took the video, the vibration caused by the planes was causing everyone including me to shake or tremble. The f-16s fly faster than the speed of sound, so u see them then u hear the sound. haha=) Another air show was the apache helicopters. 5 F-16s flew past first while their after-burners were on, so they were super fast and super loud, so u can see the planes had this bluish red kind of flame at the back of it. After-burners are like nitros for planes. Then 3 apache flew in. So cool, but the apache looked like it has a big head and a small tail and body.
The preformance at night was quite xian actually. My bro and i almost slept. Got 1 time, there were 4 damm big balloons floating, then 3 of them were lighted up except 1. Techincal error i think... The fireworks were okay only lor. At the finale, the ppl opened the thingy with glitter paper and the long long shiny shiny paper inside. I grapped 1 of them when it flew past me. My mum hrapped the same one too. The gal in front also grappde the same paper. I let go immeditaely. then my mum tugged it withour realising then the gal was pulling too. The gal had that"i am gg to get it" look on her face. Then my mum let go, and the gal had it... blah blah. The whole celebration ended and everyone had a mad rush out. It took us 36 mins to get out of the stadium and walk to the main road and take a cab.
Verdict for this year's NDP2006: It was fairly entertaining compared to the previous years. The fireworks were short and not very nice compared to those i saw at the esplanade.
We ate supper at newton and went back to out hotel room to retire for the day. My mum and i watched "Bad Boys 2" will 1 am while my dad was sleeping. Then we slept too.

Long time since i blogged... Busy lah, really sry... haha=) gg to start with fridae. Best dae of my life i think, i ponned like 4 hrs of lesson. After maths common test which was quite easy, SLs and i went to GO for a meeting bout the duties later in the dae. Reached back class and only half the period was left. Then 9.50 went down to auditorium for duty. There was a Sports Council meeting to be held. There were like 7 SLs at audi, far too many. Then no jobs for me to do, so went to the door to welcome the guests into the audi. The guests consisted of HODs and principals of schools. Mr Chew then call me go inside the audi AVA room to control the lights. Mdm Chia then gave me a lesson on some of the buttons and equipements which lasted for 5 mins. haha=) Reached back class for music at aorund 1... Hha=) super slack. After musin, went back class and change to half u. Got some rehearsal thingy, so pon the NCC training until like 6 plus. Went back to training for PT in the end. Ran 3 rounds in half u then talk cock then dismiss liao... So cool, todae=)
On Sat, wanted to go to EXPO but went to church instead after being influenced by many frends. Was pretty boring, almost slept. After hanging out at church for a while i walked over to Hotel Rendevous to meet my family, who were still not there when i reached. So i resevered a table and waited. Had my dinner and my dad drove us to esplanade to watch the fireworks for ITALY's bdae if i m not wrong... On the way there, guess who i saw? Mr Tan Jit Huei(if i spell correctly). I saw him in his white nissan cefiro, i think. He was with his frends and were gg to wacth the fireworks too. So cool=) By the way, he was my temporary form teacher when Mr Teo went reservist.
The fireworks started not long after we reached esplanade. The road came to a standstill as everyone wanted to watch the fireworks. Was damm nice but did not managed to take any photos cos it was too far away. Got many varieties of fireworks. 1 of them was like after it was shot out and "exploded", the "sparks" came down and they looked like fireballs... Dunno ghow to describe lah, very nice lah. And got another one, is it shoots out as this main core, then the core shoots out 2 other "things" then shoots out 4 others then 6 others then extingushed. 1 thing i notice, u see the fireworks then hear the sound... You noe why? Light travels faster than sounds. It is like the lightning and thunder thingy.
On sundae after tuition, got home and prayed for the 7th month thingy then went to EXPO to watch climbing world cup. Reached EXPO at around 1 plus then meet leonard there. Unfortunately, the competition was having a lunch breack and will only start the lead finals at 2.30. so wait lor, The comp started and the EXPO hall was packed. The walls looked crazy. There were more than 300 climbers from around 30 different countries like France and Korea. The competitors in the finals were pretty strong and if i am not wrong, the youngest competitor was a female of 17 years old. Hope i can be like her to take part in a international climbing event representing SINGAPORE!!! I left around an hour later to go for tuition. Xian...
Nth much happened on mondae, so will go to tuesday.
Had to reached school b4 7 like thai yong cos we had some prize presenting duty to do. We were late by a couple of mins but nvm... I ran lots of time from grandstand to GO to take stuff like flowers, trays and etc. Damm tiring. Me and thai yong helped out in the prize presenting ceremony and after that hepled to give out ice-cream. After school ended at 9.30, went back to class. Then Mr Teo said some stuff bout CIP. Around 10, i flew to hall for the speech day duty. Ushering and stuff like that. After ushering, Mr khoo told me to go down to canteen to look after the bufffet food alone. Xian, so called jon cheach pass me my ipod. I saw mr chen's wife and 2 children at the canteen too.. Almost slept at the canteen lo, damm xian... When the guests and prize receipents came down, me and a few more SLs helped to serve the food. Was very fun,haha=)But toade damm busy, duty started from 7 then ended at 1 plus... haha=)
Wednesday reached and it was SINGAPORE 41TH BIRTHDAE!!! yEAH!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAE SINGAPORE!!! Woke up at around 9 then slack at home. Packed some clothes for todae and tmr, cos i staying in hotel later till tmr. Left the hse at around 12 and ate lunch then checked into the hotel, Raffles The Plaza. My father had special discount so the room was much cheaper... haha=) The room was uber cool with a damm nice scenery. Can see esplande and many sky scrapers. Slacked a little in the hotel room, then went to raffles city alone to shop. Damm xian, all the stuff so exp then nth to do. So went to eat Ben n Jerry ice cream with the $ my dad gave me. the ice cream was not bad. After that, went back to hotel room and we were off to the national stadium!!!
